In the Turnery I work almost exclusively with the wood lathe, making wine related items, ring boxes, bocce sets, paperweights, conducting batons, magic wands, and other related items.

I make cutting boards from the smallest cheese board up to 24”X24”X3”. They can be flat sawn, edge grain, end grain, or natural. All my boards are finished with ShopDog Turnery Board Cream a mix of Mineral Oil or Walnut Oil and Beeswax that I make here at ShopDog. They can be made with or without feet, with or without grooves, and with or without custom engraving.
As a logical offshoot of cutting boards, I also make coasters in various woods.

ShopDog Signs is a sister to ShopDog Turnery, and shares a portion of the larger ShopDog site.
These are signs from the door-hangers for hotels and resorts, to personalized signs, and elegant award-type pieces.

Chess, Backgammon, Scrabble, Bao, Mancala — all require boards.
I have made game boards since I was a young man, and have found the process to be a great deal of fun. Perhaps he oddest I have made is a chess set where each piece is a pipe, in honor of the legalization of marijuana in Colorado.

I use the Smith & Co Oak & Teak Epoxy Glue™ on a regular basis here in the Turnery.
The Oak and Teak Epoxy is an epoxy made from wood products rather than petrochemicals and, as a result, is pretty much impervious to oils in woods. Thus I use it any time I am joining oily woods, including the oaks and most of the hard tropical woods.
If you have questions, or if you want one of the Smith & Co products other than Oak and Teak Epoxy, get in touch with me and I will either get it for you or direct you to a source.

Mercury Adhesives were introduced to me by a friend who taught Aerospace at a local High School. As part of the curriculum he had his students building balsa gliders. After a few years of experimentation with various CA glues, he found Mercury CA to be the best glue for adhering the wooden parts in these aircraft. I tried it out and I agree with him. When I found that Mercury Adhesives are made and packaged in the United States, and that they unconditionally guarantee their product from spoilage, I was doubly sold. Thanks Mike.
If you have any questions please get in touch with me and I will either answer your question or will put you in contact with the folk at Mercury Adhesives.

I spent much of my youth as a photographer, both still and motion. I have continued, but purely as a amateur. These are a few images I have available for sale.
